News that the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) is planning a Centre of Excellence for Big Data should help put a spring in the step of our British audience, even if the weather is struggling to show any signs of green shoots just yet. Although the remit remains unclear at this stage, the HSCIC has confirmed it is taking active steps in identifying a new director who will lead the NHS’ work in exploring what the Centre sees as offering “huge potential for the application of data science,” while also hopefully acting as a catalyst to drive innovation within the NHS.

The new issue of HIMSS Insights includes an interview which probes a little deeper into how a personalised and integrated approach to healthcare may not be too far away ...

The Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) has confirmed it is looking to recruit a Director for a planned new Centre of Excellence in Big Data and data science.
The HSCIC told the British Journal of Healthcare Computing that a proposed responsibility for this director will be “building a function that will embed data science approaches and support the Data Science Programme.”
